As a Blackberry owner, I was surprised at the four-day outage situation. But not because of Blackberry failing across five continents, but because my Blackberry was absolutely fine and worked normally. I heard about the outage after it happened and it seemed that only the northern states were effected. I cannot say the same for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Many stockholders were extremely upset at the situation and were calling for a “break up” from Blackberry’s parent company Research in Motion as per the Daily Mail. Blackberry users all over the world are making the switch to iPhone, as a result of this crisis.
Honestly, as a college student who does not have a ton of responsibilities to attend to, I thought this video of Blackberry’s co-CEO Mike Lazaridis was tasteful and acceptable; it probably wouldn’t of bothered me that much if my phone went out. But as for the working men and women of this country, I can’t say the same. “A minor technical glitch” should not equal this much damage. There is no excuse for a phone company that huge to screw up so badly.
